John Hughes

John E. Hughes is Chairman Emeritus of The Coleman Foundation, Owner/CEO of J.E. Hughes Enterprises, and Chairman of the John E. and Jeanne T. Hughes Foundation. He has spoken at over 100 colleges and universities and numerous entrepreneurship conferences across the country. Mr. Hughes was an owner/CEO and CFO of Archibald Candy Corporation and Fannie May Candy Shops, Inc. until 1991. He earned his C.P.A. certificate from the University of Illinois in 1957 and practiced for a number of years prior to founding his own firm in 1969. After dropping out of high school, he volunteered for parachute infantry service during the Second World War. After military service, he completed his high school GED. He received a Doctor's Degree from DePaul University College of Business in 2003. Mr. Hughes also owns a major position in the Schaumburg Flyers professional baseball team in the Independent Northern Professional Baseball League. During the past year he has spoken at DePaul and U.I.C. Universities, Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa, California State University ? Fresno Entrepreneur in Residence and the CEO and USASBE conferences.
