In 1994, she founded Marketing Source USA, a strategic marketing and branding firm which revitalizes communities, companies and nonprofits throughout the U.S. The firm concentrates in the fields of arts and entertainment, economic and community development, professional services, and education.

Prior to launching the firm, Hunter held marketing management posts at The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Valleyfair Amusement Park, and chambers of commerce in two states. Her vita also includes work as a newspaper reporter and columnist, ad designer and PR assistant.

An accomplished writer and strategist, Hunter holds an MBA in marketing from the University of St. Thomas and a BA from Albion College in Michigan, where she later served on the Board of Trustees. She has taught marketing and nonprofit management at Gustavus Adolphus College, Metropolitan State University and the University of St. Thomas. She recently ghost wrote a book on workplace intervention for Hazelden Foundation.

Hunter is a life-long volunteer and community activist, recently completing board leadership roles with the Volunteer Resource Center, The Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, and Albion College Capital Campaign Committee.

In her free time, Hunter enjoys portrait drawing, antique hunting, theater and running. A one-time marathoner, she trekked to the base camp of Mt. Everest in 2001. She and her family have been frequent hosts on international exchange students.
