Portfolios and Headshots
Any artist's portfolio represents his or herwork to prospective employers and customers--it's worth the effort it takes to build and maintain a good representation. While performing artists face a different challenge than do visual artists, much of the same general advice applies. So make sure to check out other sections in this site.
Also, though, there are many articles and other resources focused on creating video and audio portfolios. Here are a selected few:
Creating an Effective Promo/Video
This is actually a booklet created by the California Arts Council that provides a full how-to guide to creating promotional videos that work. The link goes to a brief description, and provides instructions on how to order the publication. (It's a reasonable $7.50.)
Creating an Effective Audio Demo
This publication covers the step-by-step process of producing an audio demo. It's available, in its entirety, online--the link above will download an MS Word document to a new window. You can print it from there if you wish. At the Seattle Arts Commission site.
